Underdog Fantasy does a great job of giving us so many different offerings to choose from. From round score to fairways hit, fantasy points to greens in regulation, their offerings are unmatched in the industry.
Rocket Mortgage Underdog Plays – Round 1
For Round 1, our biggest edge is in Greens in Regulation and fairways hit. Unfortunately, Underdog probably agrees because they’re not posting lines for that at the moment. So, let’s get a little spicy.
We know that scoring is going to be low. This course is soft, and birdies are out there for the taking.
Cameron Young – 5.5 Birdies or Better – HIGHER
Let’s ride the Cameron Young wave a little bit here. He went nuclear over the weekend at TPC River Highlands, and he carries the best over BoB% in this field over the past six months at 23.8%. It’s 24.7% in the first round.
Taylor Pendrith – 5.5 Birdies or Better – HIGHER
Every part of his game has been more consistent, and his putter has turned into a real weapon. Pendrith has gained strokes putting in 16 of his 18 starts this season, and lately, he’s been gaining nearly a full stroke per round. On the season, Pendrith has gained strokes on the greens in 75% of his rounds played, the highest rate in this week’s field.
Will Zalatoris – 39.35 Fantasy Points – LOWER
I’m a big Zalatoris apologist, but this isn’t the course for him. His 18.8% BoB% over the past six months is towards the bottom of this week’s field, and his 16.9% bogey avoidance rate is higher than I’d like. I just don’t think he’s ready to compete when the ask is 5-6 birdies per round.
Maverick McNealy – 5.0 Birdies or Better – HIGHER
Mav ranks fifth in this week’s field in overall birdie or better rate over the past six months, and when you dial into the specific bentgrass/poa putting splits that matter for this week, McNealy ranks fourth over a two-year sample comparable surfaces.
Aaron Rai – Top 20 Finishing Position – YES
Every Thursday night during the golf season, Aaron Rai manages to find himself near the top of the leaderboard. Over the past two years, Rai is third in this week’s field in SG: T2G in Round 1. He’s also second in this week’s field in bogey avoidance, which highlights his safe floor.
