BMW Championship: Betting Recap

The FedEx Cup Playoffs keep producing! One week after a thrilling Will Zalatoris playoff win at the St. Jude, the BMW Championship followed up with a fantastic leaderboard with most of the big names at the top and Patrick Cantlay (+1500 outright) coming away the winner for the second consecutive year. The Betsperts Golf team had their outright streak snapped this week, but Ron Klos did hit three of four Top 10 bets in Rory McIlroy (+210), Scottie Scheffler (+225), and Jon Rahm (+240).

As mentioned above, though, Cantlay was indeed the big winner, able to outlast several of the world’s top players on Sunday at Wilmington Country Club. In addition to the +1500 outright, Cantlay cashed his Top 5 (+420), Top 10 (+245) and Top 20 (+156) prices. The win from Cantlay was huge in terms of the FedEx Cup race vaulting him to just two shots behind leader Scottie Scheffler for the staggered start at this week’s Tour Championship at East Lake. Cantlay will begin at 8-under while Scheffler starts in front at 10-under.

  • Unfortunately, after last week’s thrilling win, Will Zalatoris had to withdraw from the BMW Championship with a back injury. Early on in the 3rd Round on Saturday, Zalatoris appeared to tweak something in his back on the 4th hole. He tried to stretch it out but was unable to continue. Even with the withdrawal, Zalatoris won’t drop far in the Tour Championship’s staggered start. He begins at 7-under this Thursday at East Lake, just one shot behind Cantlay and 3 behind Scheffler. Despite the back injury, Zalatoris expects to be ready to go at East Lake.
  • After a good amount of the big names were absent from the top of the leaderboard last weekend and a few even missing the cut, this weekend’s leaderboard was filled with stars. Lowry, Niemann, McIlroy, Rahm, Scott, Conners, Schauffele, Scheffler, and Cantlay all finished inside of the Top 15 and within 6-shots of the winner Cantlay.
