The full schedule for the 2024 regular season and FedEx Cup Playoffs was revealed by the PGA Tour back in August, and it is unlike any season in Tour history. Apart from the fact that it’s back to a calendar-year season for the first time in ten years, the biggest modification is that just three of the eight signature events (previously called designated) will have a traditional 36-hole cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with the 50th edition of The Players Championship and the four major championships, the schedule will feature 36 regular-season events, three postseason tournaments, and eight signature events. Out of the eight signature tournaments, 36-hole cuts will be used in the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and Memorial Tournament after a field of 80 players is narrowed down to the top 50 and ties at the conclusion of Friday’s second round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first method for players to be eligible for signature events in 2024 was to have finished in the top 50 of the 2022-2023 FedExCup standings. Another method of entry is for the next 10 highest-ranked players from the FedExCup standings who were not already exempt. Another eligible group of players includes “The Swing Five”, which are the top five points earners from full-field events between signature events who are not otherwise exempt. Finally, the top 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings and all tournament winners from the current season will also be in signature event fields. Each of these tournaments will also have sponsor exemptions where the directors will have the freedom to choose whichever four players will help bring the most value and notoriety to that specific event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sentry, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship, Travelers Championship, and the three FedEx Cup Playoff tournaments will all go without cuts. In 2024, elite players won’t have to participate in signature tournaments, but the purses will still be much larger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Signature status is granted to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in place of the WM Phoenix Open, which will end on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 11). Not only will the Phoenix Open be impacted by the new schedule, but the Canadian Open will also be pushed forward one week and take the Memorial’s place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now scheduled for June, the Memorial will serve as the first of three consecutive signature tournaments, with the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship to come. The calendar will also be impacted by the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, which will take place the week before the Wyndham Championship, delaying the end of the regular season and the postseason by one week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FedEx Cup Fall occurs after the 2024 season, as athletes compete for positioning in front of the 2025 season. The FedEx Cup Fall will determine the top 125 players’ eligibility and grant them exemption into both the Players Championship and full-field events. Players who placed No. 51 or higher in the FedEx Cup the year before will continue to accrue points towards their eligibility status into the fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational are open to the top 10 finishers from the FedEx Cup Fall, barring any exceptions. In addition, winners of the FedEx Cup Fall will be invited to major championships that exempt PGA Tour winners, as well as receive a two-year exemption from the PGA Tour and entry into The Sentry and Players Championships.The 2024 PGA Tour schedule’s FedEx Cup Fall portion will be revealed at a later time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From The Sentry through the FedExCup Playoffs and into the soon-to-be-announced FedExCup Fall, this new, cadence will create consistent excitement for our fans and reward players like never before.
