We finally had a banger last week (and I was on the wrong side of it in the end)! Despite losing my first TGL bet of the season and ruining my unblemished record, that was easily the best golf we’d seen in the arena so far. I still believe they tinked with the simulator to get Kisner’s ball speed up to grown-man levels, but such is life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With just five matches per team to decide the playoffs, going 0-2 would be a pretty deep hole to dig out of for Boston. Meanwhile, LA looks to build off the biggest blowout win in TGL history after beating Jupiter 12-1 a few weeks back. Boston will roll out the exact same lineup as last week (Matsuyama on the bench), while Los Angeles will have Tommy Fleetwood stepping into the arena for the first time with Sahith Theegala off this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking at strokes gained numbers from the past 12 months, we’ve obviously got some heavy hitters here, including Rory coming directly from a trophy ceremony in Monterrey back to Sofi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rose appears to be the weakest link based on this, but his approach game has been gaining strokes on the field over the past 12 and 24 rounds, and honestly, he looked pretty comfortable and able last time out on the simulator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m not sure the same thing can be said about Keegan Bradley. Maybe he’s just got a lot on his mind with the extra responsibilities he’s carrying this year, but he was a huge part of the reason the Ballfrogs lost to Jupiter last week. He put a tee shot into the shit on the sixth hole, costing the team a point, and later on let Tom Kim’s poor approach off the hook with a bad three-putt that allowed the hole to be a tie despite Kim being in the bunker and Keegan on the dancefloor. He also lost hole 12, but that’s a tough one to be mad about, considering TK managed the closest shot to the pin in TGL history thus far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a close one, but I’m giving LAGC the slight nod here, considering Keegan’s play and how well Los Angeles played a few weeks back. They hit 70% of their fairways, scrambled their faces off, and made the short putts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How TGL Golf Works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The two teams of three will play the first nine holes in an \u201calternate shot\u201d that involves all three golfers. The final six holes will be singles matches where each player competes against an opposing player for the entire hole. After that, two new players will go head-to-head for the next hole, meaning each golfer will have two of the six holes for which he is responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each hole is worth one point; tied holes are worth nothing. The one caveat is THE HAMMER<\/strong>. A team can throw a hammer at any time during the hole, making it worth double the points. The opposing team has the option to decline it, but doing so concedes the hole for one point automatically. After being played, the hammer changes possession, meaning the team who was hammered can then do the hammering. In fact, if they think their opponents made a mistake and they feel confident about a hole, they can play it back immediately, making the hole worth three points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the match, the most points wins. A tied match is decided by the best two-out-of-three, closest to the pin, pitching contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
