Our BetSperts Golf staff has combed through the projections and available lines to identify our favorite bets for the U.S. Open. These are our Best Bets for the weekend.
Sam Burns Top 20 +100 (BetMGM)
Ryan Noonan: Sam Burns has entered a stratosphere among his peers where few reside, a spot where his game is fit for any style of golf course because he’s above-average at all phases of the game. He’s long and accurate off the tee but can win this event if the recipe calls for scrambling and putting prowess. Statistically, Burns ranks inside the top 20 over the past 50 rounds in SG: APP, SG: Putting, SG: T2G, and Bogey Avoidance. He fired back-to-back 65’s in Canada last weekend, and it was barely a blip on the radar. I love his form and fit for Brookline.
Talor Gooch Top 40 -105 (FanDuel)
Andy Molitor: Taking some heat for hopping to the LIV, but still a guy who’s in a good form. Hit a ton of greens last week in London, just missed a few too many putts to move up the leaderboard and make a run at the South Africans. 14th at the Masters, 20th at the PGA, he’s been playing well in big spots and even has a win in a not-so-big spot during last year’s swing season. He’s ranking highly in everything I’m running this week but I do think his OTT may hold him back a bit and is the reason I didn’t grab him top 20 instead.
Jordan Spieth Top 20 +120 (DraftKings)
Ron Klos: On a quirky course that demands imagination, creativity, and bogey avoidance there is no player that personifies those skills better than Jordan Spieth. His ball-striking has been a revelation gaining at least 4 strokes in five of his last six starts. Surprisingly, putting has been his main weakness over the past few months. But he gained five strokes on Muirfield’s fast greens in his last start and ranks 11th in the field in the crucial 5-15 feet range in his last 100 rounds.
Daniel Berger Top 40 -120 (FanDuel)
Geoff Fienberg: Much like my space in this collab article at Memorial a couple of weeks ago, we are going back to Berger T40. I continue to believe his markets represent value because of his dip in stats/form/results from an injury that plagued him much of the last 6-8 weeks. He’s healthy now proven by successful back-to-back starts which featured a weekend moment of contending at The Memorial.
