Scottish Open Betting Recap

The Scottish Open is officially in the books, and as we roll into The Open at St. Andrews for the season’s final major, Andy Molitor heads into it coming off a win! While a few of Andy’s outrights struggled overall, all you need as one and he hit that with Xander Schauffele. Xander used a 2nd Round 65 and 3rd Round 66 to propel him to the win at The Renaissance Club one shot ahead of Kurt Kitayama at -7. Schauffele was the 5th favorite going into the Scottish Open at +1800 (though he opened the week Monday at +2000), so congrats on any other winners this weekend. Xander also cashed his Top 5 (+400), Top 10 (+200), and Top 20 (-110) lines. He heads into the 150th Open Championship as the second favorite at +1300 behind just Rory McIlroy (+1000) to take home the Claret Jug.

  • As previously mentioned, Kurt Kitayama was the runner-up at The Renaissance Club this weekend finishing just one shot behind Xander Schauffele at -6. Kitayama made a run on Sunday to vault himself into a first-place tie, but ultimately a bogey on the 17th ended up being the deciding blow to his chances. If you bet on Kitayama this week though, congrats because you cashed out some really solid numbers. Sure, he fell just short of cashing his +30000 outright odds, but his Top 5 (+5000), Top 10 (+2000), and Top 20 (+800) numbers made for big hits this weekend.
  • Jordan Spieth headed into Sunday very much in contention at -4 for the tournament, and going to the Back 9 he sat at -5 and very much with a chance to win. That Back 9 however did NOT go well and ultimately cost him a chance at winning as well as some outright and Top 5 bettors some winnings. Spieth fired a 3-over 38 on the Back 9 dropping him to -2, but also just good enough to keep him at a T10 finish. Jordan went into the week the 12th outright favorite at +3000. His Top 5 number at +650 looked really good as well until those Back 9 struggles. Spieth was able to salvage his Top 10 (+320) and Top 20 (+150) odds, however.
