While accuracy matters more than raw distance, the past two years have shown that if you can do both, you have a very good chance at winning. There aren’t a ton of McNealys or Abergs in the field this time around, however. Historically, the field only takes driver about 50% of the time off the tee. Spraying it off the tee box is far more likely to result in a wet landing, which is really the only defense between two courses.

Hit your fairways, dial in the irons, and if you can putt well on these Bermuda surfaces, you’ll be on the first page of the leaderboard. The Seaside course allows guys to pile up birdies if they can attack pins, and the course generally rewards players with strong approach games and historically strong putting.

Compared against all other PGA TOUR Courses, Seaside is quite easy…

2025 RSM Classic Picks

Pierceson Coody

Coody’s skills line up far more like the past two RSM winners than those who came before. Much like McNealy, Coody can drive and putt consistently at a high level while everything in between is a crap shoot. It’s worth a stab at the moment since most of the odds board at the top is populated with players who haven’t played competitive rounds in two months, and no player has a better average finish in the Swing Season than Coody.

Matt Kuchar

Let’s do it one more time. Kuch has been solid all swing season with strong strokes gained totals and results, despite his plunge down the leaderboard a week ago. Needs to put it all together, but has the game to win if everything clicks, especially if one of the young bombers doesn’t run away from the field.

Mac Meisner

Excellent approach and ball-striking, though the putter is inconsistent. However, his bermuda splits have been far superior on the greens than any other surface. He’s trending upwards with his game in general, and Sea Island seems like a perfect spot for a breakthrough.

2025 RSM Classic DFS Targets

Rico Hoey – Incredible ball-striker, but putting is his kryptonite. More realistic as a Top 10/20 pick rather than a winner.

Eric Cole – Plays well on Sea Island and at similar courses. Missed cut in Bermuda, but solid chance for rebound this week.

Brian Harman – Two recent top-20 finishes to end the year. Experience on these courses could keep him near the top-10.

Victor Perez – Rates highly overall, but had a rough Bermuda Championship. Expecting a rebound on Seaside’s forgiving fairways.

Bud Cauley – Inconsistent putting and lacking form, but an overall excellent season and fits the prototype of player who historically wins at the RSM Classic.

Doc Redman – Excellent approach stats in the short-term, putting is variable. High-risk, high-reward pick if the putter comes alive at deep odds.

Paul Peterson — Took a test drive with PP last week and it wasn’t horrible. He’s Top 5 in the field in P4 birdies or better over the last six months and may be able to get away with his wonky driver on the wide fairways.

Blades Brown — I just think he’s going to be good. So why not?
