2022 U.S. Open Round 2 Betting and Showdown Picks

Adam Hadwin shot the round of the day with a 4-under 66 at the first round of the 122nd U.S. Open. He gained 2.8 shots on approach and was equally as good around the greens when he had to scramble. Rory McIlroy was among a group of four other players who shot 67 and are one shot back. The course was as tough as advertised playing 2.76 shots over par. With winds forecast on Friday to be steady from 12-15 mph along with consistent gusts over 20 mph, the cut-line could approach five-over-par.

Numerous star players sit within three shots of the lead including Matt Fitzpatrick, Dustin Johnson, Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm, Max Homa, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris. The one name that stands out from a value perspective is Daniel Berger (+6600) who is four shots off the lead. He gained 1.7 strokes ball-striking today, and with winds increasing over the weekend, is one of the best “wind” players in the world.
