2022 St. Jude Championship Best Bets

First week of the three stop FedEx Playoffs starts tomorrow! Before you finalize your betting cards and DFS pools, be sure to:

Here’s a sampling of our crew’s favorite bets for this week to get you started:

Ron Klos

Will Zalatoris Top 20 +125

Having come so close to winning multiple times in these strong fields events, everything is lining up for this to finally be another great week for Zalatoris. To start with, this is a perfect course for him because it demands stellar ball-striking, and he is one of the best in the world. Being able to steer clear of the water and the rough and attack these small greens will allow him to separate from the field. Secondly, his recent caddie switch should reinvigorate him, and according to reports, was long overdue. He also comes into this week in good playing form having competed in the past two events where he gained a combined 10.6 strokes ball-striking. Finally, he has proven time and time again that he is a big-game hunter in strong fields. In his last seven “strong-field” events he has five top-10s and has gained a total of 69.3 strokes on the field.

Geoff Fienberg

Hatton Top 20 +210

I feel the markets are off on Hatton this week from his outright # and the trickle down effect that has on his props. He’s a world class player who is now riding his best form of the season on an ideal course fit. Off a Sunday 64 and a T10 finish we can put away the question if his positive trends was just a result of being on the comfort of links tracks in Scotland. I feel Hatton is better than every golfer priced in his tier this week.

Ryan Noonan

Sam Burns Top 20 +175

He hasn’t been particularly sharp of late, but I’ll continue to back Sam Burns, especially on Bermuda. One of only three 3-time winners on Tour this season, Sam Burns shot a 64 here in last year’s fourth round on the back of 3.41 strokes gained on approach (SG: APP). Unfortunately, he came up short in the end, losing to Abraham Ancer in a playoff, but he’s continued to build off of that success in 2022. Burns has finished in the top 20 in 12 of his 22 starts (55%). Seven of those finishes were inside the top 5 (32%). That’s a hell of a year. In addition, Burns is one of the Tour’s best Par-4 scorers, which I’m weighing heavily this week in Memphis.

Andy Molitor

Taylor Pendrith Top 20 +330

A little squirrelly off the tee at times, but makes up for it with great second shots from all over the course, putting him in a position to score whenever there are opportunities. Three straight finishes in the top 15 over the past month including a runner-up at the Rocket Mortgage has me looking at him as someone ready to compete, just maybe not to win considering the field. Tee to Green numbers have been elite and has had success on Bermuda in the past.
