Best Live Outright Adds
- Xander Schauffele – 3 shots back (+1200 DraftKings) – He was dialed in on approach gaining 2.1 strokes with his irons. Quality first rounds typically lead to weeks where he is in contention on Sundays. Loves no-cut events.
- Shane Lowry – 2 shots back (+1800 DraftKings) – Players starting off strong on approach is the first thing I look for when looking to add a player to the betting card heading into the second round. The second thing I check is being positive in all four strokes gained categories. Lowry comes close to checking both boxes, only losing 0.45 strokes off the tee. He ranks seventh in the field in 2nd round strokes gained averaging 1.80 in the past year and will look to continue climbing up the leaderboard tomorrow.
- Collin Morikawa – 3 shots back (+1400 FanDuel) – Gained 2.57 strokes ball-striking on Thursday. Hit 16 of 18 greens. Says his fade off the tee is back and that he hasn’t felt this good with his swing in a long time. Only 1-under on the par-5s. The length of the course did not appear to stymie his game at all in the first round.
Weather Forecast – Wilmington, DE

In Thursday’s first round, the morning wave shot 0.80 strokes better on average than the afternoon wave. A big part of that is the added moisture to the greens earlier in the morning which causes them to be softer and easier to play on. Added to the morning advantage again tomorrow is that the wind is slightly stronger in the afternoon. Overall, I will somewhat favor morning golfers, but there are so many quality players teeing off in the afternoon. So I am not crossing anyone off the list for my Showdown lineups.
