RBC Canadian Open Betting Recap

So, that was pretty awesome. The PGA Tour had a chance to make a statement this weekend in Toronto at the RBC and on Sunday the Tour’s top players delivered. Rory McIlroy emerged victorious in the definition of a heavyweight battle over the weekend over Justin Thomas and Tony Finau to successfully defend his title.

Both Ryan Noonan and Ron Klos hit it big on their Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, and Top 40 market bets this week. Ryan ended up +10.77 units for the tournament and Ron finished +15.93 units thanks to those markets. Andy cleaned up in 72-hole matchups going 5-0 for the tournament. Make sure you check out their picks every week on Betsperts Golf and the members only Discord.

  • Rory entered the RBC as the outright favorite on FanDuel at +950 but that number dropped to +800 by Thursday. Thanks to a tournament of shooting no worse than 68 and a final round 62, Rory was able to cash his outright with a 2-shot win over Tony Finau and 4-shot win over Justin Thomas. Rory’s Top 5 odds opened at +240 but were bet all the way down to +145 by Thursday’s opening round. His Top 10 (+115) and Top 20 (-170) odds also cashed as well.
  • Thomas and Finau both entered the RBC as Top 10 favorites to take home the title. JT actually entered the week with shorter odds than Rory at +900, but by the time things teed off for Round 1 those had jumped a little to +950. Thomas started the week with a pair of 69s on Thursday and Friday before really heating up on the weekend with a 63 & 64 to finish out the tournament. JT cashed his Top 5 (+210), Top 10 (+115), and Top 20 (-180) odds as well.
  • Finau played a bogey-free Sunday round and fired a 64, but it just wasn’t enough to get by Rory’s Sunday 62 and cash his +2400 outright odds on FanDuel. Finau still ended up being one of the most profitable players in the field at the RBC cashing in Top 5 odds at +950, Top 10 odds at +370, and Top 20 odds at +110.
