Max Homa and Taylor Gooch

Best Bets: Zurich Classic

Our BetSperts Golf staff has combed through the projections and available lines to identify our favorite bets for The RBC Heritage. These are our Best Bets for the weekend.

Max Homa and Talor Gooch Top 20 (-120)

Ron Klos: Both players come into this event with solid chemistry having played numerous practice rounds together along with partnering at this event last year (17th-place finish). Homa and Gooch each rank in the top-18 in the field tee-to-green. Gooch is one of the best long par-3 players while both are in the top-11 in Strokes Gained on par-5 holes over the past 36 rounds. Even more importantly, both players have been regulars at the top of leaderboards over the past six months.

Joaquín Niemann and Mito Pereira Top 10 (+210)

Andy Molitor: Two guys that have found my money on them a ton this spring so far.  Niemann with a win this season and Mito is starting to see his game translate at the PGA level after a scorching summer last year on the Korn Ferry Tour.  Both guys ranked high enough in my ball striking, Greens in Regulation and overall “finding ways to score” stat models to make backing them a few different ways a no-brainer.  I also backed them to win the whole thing at +2500, but love the Chileans to crush the Best Ball rounds and find themselves in contention on Sunday.  Getting over 2/1 odds on this with just 80 teams is value.

Russell Knox and Brian Stuard Top 5 (+1400)

John Daigle: These two are exactly the type of pairing I look for in this event: Stuard has surgically found the second-most fairways off the tee (71.1%) year-to-date on tour while Knox (73.3%) trails only Jon Rahm (73.5%) in average Greens In Regulation, ensuring second shots from the fairway and, logically, a birdie putt in close proximity to the hole. If their putts fall, the Top 5 may be this duo’s floor.

Sungjae Im and Byeong Hun An Outright (+4000)

Ryan Noonan: Byeong Hun An is playing on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, but his recent play, including last week’s T2 and a win in February, have him on track to return to the big boy tour in 2023. A win this week with Sungjae Im would solidify that. Im has been trending up, with a strong performance at Augusta and a T21 at last week’s RBC Heritage, where his ball-striking was immaculate. Anything close to a field-average putting performance from Im at Harbour Town, and he’s in the top 10, and this number is 28/1 and not 40/1.
